Jordan’s General Iftaa’ Department, in fatwa 820, holds that “it is permissible for both man and woman to wear silver rings.”⁵ In June 2024, answering for the Shafi’i school on SeekersGuidance, Shaykh Bassem Itani wrote that a silver ring “is even recommended according to the Shafi’i School.”⁶

Between those two is where an honest page has to slow down. Shaykh Bassem Itani continues that “as for rings made of other metals, there is no objection to it,”⁶ and a Shafi’i answer on IslamQA, number 33926, is blunter still: “Yes, platinum, titanium, steel and iron rings are permissible, no matter what the value.”⁷⁸ Several Hanafi darul iftas read it the other way and permit a man silver and nothing else⁹¹⁰¹¹. What Scholars and Fatwa Bodies Say (Hanafi, Shafi’i & More)

Of the sixteen published answers cited on this page, five rule on the counting, fourteen rule on what a man may wear, and only three rule on both.
